Field and Measurement Technologies

The SENST Lab is equipped with an extensive array of advanced measurement technologies designed to detect and measure emissions ranging from minor leaks to large-scale releases from area sources such as landfills. While not comprehensive, the following list highlights our current capabilities. Notably, we possess unique field experimentation resources, including wind tunnels and a large, controlled-release gas trailer with specialized components. The gas trailer is capable of releasing precisely metered amounts of methane gas into the atmosphere, supporting the development and testing of algorithms for detection, localization, and quantification of emissions. Our system has been instrumental in advancing and testing various methane sensing technologies, such as commercial satellites, aircraft and drone systems, ground-based sensors, and several measurement platforms engineered within the SENST Lab.
